Buried Issues – Hidden Emotions

To be healed, or brought to a state of wellness – can be a daunting task, particularly when one has to engage all available personal resources.

Besides financial assets, there must be a careful selection and application of the most appropriate and promising therapies. Also there must be commitment and patience of seeing the process through to the very end, being ever willing to make the need adjustments and fine tuning the therapy for maximum yield.

However, one thing that is often overlooked is the state of our shadow life. Each of us has an area within, where “buried issues and hidden emotions” are tucked away – items that we have swept under the carpet.

These unresolved matters are things that we have refused to deal with for one reason or another, and have been allowed to fester over time. In truth, because these matters have been unattended to, there’s a large possibility that they have become major contributing factors our general state of unwholeness.

No matter what we do externally, it must balance with the work that we do to bring order to our “internal state of affairs”.

If we want to completely heal and prosper, we must remember to periodically empty the trash which collects within. There can be no room for re-occurring traumatic past events, anger, resentment or unforgiveness (no matter how painful it may be to work through them).

Recently, as I set forth on my personal path of recovery (detailed in three blogs last month), I find myself going back over areas of issues that I thought were resolved – issues and emotions that I thought I had settled, only to find that they were not completely gone.

There were shadow places where the remnants had taken root again, requiring me to look closer and deeper while beginning to extraction process all over again.

Be relentless in periodic self-examination, not with an iron fist, but in the spirit of love. Love and forgive yourself continually for any tarnished and unwholesome areas that are discovered as you work to bring about peaceful and calm inner world within.
